Audience

Helloooo!! Today in class we had time to work on our project. So this post is going to be about how my partner and I have decided to research more of our horror movie target audience and sound. The usual target audience for horror movies is 15-25 years old, this is because of the way they are developing themselves. They are trying to find a place in the world, playing and experimenting with their different feelings and emotions. Horror movies bring a sense of thrill and excitement into the younger crowds not so much the older crowds. The younger crowd is more used seeing the violence and bloody images in these types of movies. In this website they also talked about stereotypes. Males are most likely to be more interested in the horror genre due to all the violent graphics they see in video games. This movies are relatively aimed for working class community this is due to the cheap prices. Another audience that horror movies get is couples, The Cabin in the Woods major audience was couples, also with A Nightmare on Elm street. Couples generally go to watch horror movies generally to get comfortable with one another and have a feeling of protection. For sound as I talked about it in my last post it is very important. In no film school it states how sounds can be scary: be being sudden or by generating a frightful tone. The sound causes a reaction in the brain that causes fear, we can also hear something faster than by actually seeing it. I'll keep you updated with anything new!
